It looks like you're in the United States. If you live in the US and want to shop for
Schengen travel insurance, click ‘I live in the US’. Please note, by choosing ‘I don't live
in the US’ you will not be offered policies for US residents.
Before submitting a Schengen visa application, the European Union requires each applicant to take out specific travel insurance, covering emergency medical expenses and repatriation during the stay. This mandatory insurance must meet strict criteria, defined in Article 15 of the EU visa regulations:
Cover emergency medical expenses, hospitalization, as well as repatriation in case of illness or death, with a minimum of €30,000
Be valid in all Schengen area countries
Be valid for the entire duration of the stay
Be accepted by all consular services of all member states issuing Schengen visas
Important! The certificate of this Schengen health insurance is part of the mandatory documents to include with your application file. Without this travel insurance certificate, your visa application will be refused.
Our AXA Schengen travel insurance policies are all compliant for obtaining a Schengen VISA. We provide you with a certificate that can be downloaded immediately after purchase confirmation.
This type of insurance isn't just for visa applicants. It's also ideal for other travelers who want comprehensive coverage for their stay in Europe, where medical expenses can be very expensive.
You can leave with peace of mind and focus on what matters most, knowing that, if necessary, your medical expenses will be covered.
Does AXA also deal with the processing of visa applications at embassies?
AXA Schengen does not process visa applications. We provide the travel insurance document that is one of the requirements for your Schengen visa application. For the actual visa application process, you'll need to contact the embassy or consulate of the Schengen country you plan to visit. For helpful visa application information, you can visit our guide to get a visa.
Will I receive the policy document for visa approval immediately after purchasing?
Yes, you will receive your insurance certificate immediately after your payment is processed. The document will be sent to your email and will also be available to download on the confirmation page of your purchase. This certificate contains all the information required by embassies for visa applications, including coverage amounts, policy dates, and emergency contact information. Please check your spam/junk folder if you don't see it in your inbox within a few minutes of purchase.
What specific information does the embassy need to see on the insurance certificate?
Our insurance certificates display all information prominently, making them easily acceptable by all Schengen embassies. We format our certificates specifically to highlight these key requirements for visa officials.
Schengen embassies require your insurance certificate to clearly show:
Your full name and birth date matching your passport
Coverage for the entire duration of your planned stay
Minimum coverage amount of €30,000 for medical expenses
Coverage for emergency medical treatment
Coverage for medical repatriation
Validity throughout all Schengen countries
Do your insurances cover all countries in the Schengen area?

The coverage is valid throughout the entire Schengen area during your stay, regardless of which specific Schengen countries you plan to visit. The insurance meets the requirements for visa applications to any Schengen country.

Can I pay in my local currency instead of Euros?
Our prices and payments are in Euros only. But don't worry! When you pay with your credit card, your bank will convert the amount to your local currency at their current exchange rate.
Here are a few things to keep in mind:
Your bank might charge a small foreign currency conversion fee (this is set by your bank, not us)
Your credit card statement will show the equivalent amount in your local currency
The final price in your local currency depends on the exchange rate at the time of purchase
You can also select a secondary currency in the payment process to see an estimated rate. Just remember, the final price will still be processed in Euros.
If you're concerned about the exchange rate, check with your bank for their current Euro conversion rate before making the purchase.
How can I see the price in my local currency?
Our website allows you to view prices in different currencies to help you understand the cost of your insurance:
In the top right corner of our site, you can select your preferred currency from several available options
Prices will then be displayed in this currency, with an indicative exchange rate
You will be able to see the converted amounts throughout the purchase process
Please note that this feature is for informational purposes only. Although prices are displayed in your local currency, the final payment will always be processed in euros. The actual exchange rate will be the one applied by your bank or payment provider at the time of the transaction.
